How Practice Thinking Can Completely Change Your Infertility Experience

Our brains are wired to do things as efficiently as possible and with as little effort as possible. Once we determine what is important to us in life our brain goes to work to focus on that and filter out anything else that isn’t relevant. That’s the basic framework that contributes to developing our unconscious mind.

After a while we don’t have to think about every step required to do simple tasks like brushing our teeth or make our beds. Our brain just knows how to do it and then carries out the tasks without us having to put much effort into delegating the information step by step.

This is also true when we face obstacles in life like infertility. Your brain has become conditioned to think about it a certain way based off of the information you have subconsciously chosen to file away.

That is all well and good, but what if what you are telling yourself is horrible and making you feel terrible every step of the way? Then it might be time for a change. The good news is that you can change how you feel at any moment when you change what you are thinking.

All of our feelings come from our thinking. If we want to feel a different way, we have to think something different to generate that. Easier said than done, right? Here are three steps you’ll need to do to start thinking something new in your life.

First, you have to see what you are currently thinking. If you don’t understand where you are currently coming from, you will never be able to change your thinking to something different. The best way to do this is by taking a piece of paper and writing down everything that comes to mind about your problem. Having it written down is a way to own up to all of the thoughts you are allowing to go on in your brain. When we write them down we can harness them for evaluation. Most likely everything you wrote is probably making you feel a whole bunch of negative emotions.

Next, you have to change your thought to something that you want to be thinking instead that will generate a different feeling for you.  If your current thought is that “Infertility sucks and is horrible.” Then your experience will end up sucking and being horrible. Compare that to a different thought like “Infertility is just a step in the process of building my family.” Notice how thinking that thought feels for you. Probably much more peaceful.

Lastly, you have to practice what you want to be thinking on a regular basis until it becomes unconscious. The best way to do this is to set goals for yourself that are focused around the new thought and then you need to practice visualizing and thinking those thoughts daily. Write them down the new thoughts you’ve developed for yourself and read them out loud on a daily basis. This could be first thing in the morning or before you go to bed. Whatever you choose, be consistent and commit to it. By doing this you are consciously your brain what to focus on. This will help you move past the thoughts that are holding you back from your goals and dreams.

Ultimately your thoughts create your results. Start practicing the thoughts that will produce the results you want in your life and you will be amazed at what unfolds.
